Pure Bliss!

Hello from Florida

Today was a cooler day in Florida--mid 60's--so I spent most of my day tooling around AMI (that's Anna Maria Island to all the non-islanders). I spent over an hour in my FAVORITE shop on the island- The Sand Dollar. I was so seriously excited when I found out they now have a website {MyYellowShovel.com} and I can browse the goods even when I'm stuck in the cold Missouri winter. I instantly fell in love with this mobile! .
I then tried to force my mother into purchasing the entire set of glass ware that is covered in woven sea grass sleeves.
"It is lovely! It's the perfect glass ware for Florida! I'd die for this!" She, of course, reminded me that she already had all the glass ware she would ever need at their sunny tropical oasis. The good news is, I can now purchase them online in case I ever get the urge.

Art

"The photographs that I create are like dreams that test the documented history within." -Murphy Munday-Paul

This is my find of the day- shopscadonline.com. It's various items including art, jewelry, decor, books and random accessories from students and alumni at Savannah College of Art and Design. I fell in love with these photographs by Murphy Munday-Paul.

Seafood Pot Pie

Today is one of those cold and rainy days where I just want to curl up on the couch and enjoy a yummy pot pie. More specifically, this delicious seafood pot pie that is a fabulous creation by Paula Deen! Crab, shrimp and oysters surrounded by veggies and covered with puff pastry lattice-YES PLEASE!

Yum-o!

Nothing goes together for dessert better than wine and chocolate, so why not indulge with wine infused chocolate? Delicious milk and dark chocolate paired and then infused with rare vintage Port wine, sparkling Champagne, buttery Chardonnay, and a full bodied Cabernet. Pure bliss!

Merry Christmas Eve Eve

"Why don't you get out of that wet coat and into a dry martini" -Robert Benchley

Is there a better way to celebrate Christmas Eve Eve than sipping a martini with your loved one? I think not! This 4 piece Martini set includes handblown martini glasses and pitcher with a fun cocktail stirrer. The best part is the price. At only $18.80 for the set you can splurge on the vodka!

Twigs

It doesn't get much more natural and rustic than this mirror trimmed in tree branches. The question is would you rather make this at home for about $30 or purchase one that is already put together for $345? I'll go tramping through the woods picking up sticks anyday!

Winter Project

Welcome to my Winter Project! Isn't it fun??
I found this in the final issue of Blueprint magazine and have been OBSESSED with it ever since then. What exactly is it? A plain and boring chest of drawers masked with a little trompe l'oeil magic. Take a fun image of vintage furniture such as this 18th century dresser, blow it up in color on heavy-weight coated bond paper at the local Kinkos and decoupage it to a boring chest of drawers.

Merry Christmas

I love Christmas decor with a funky flair.

Just because...

Just because it's not summer, doesn't mean you can't enjoy a hammock!

Blueprint

I miss Blueprint magazine so much that I sometimes think I could cry. It was so fun and fresh--even if it was produced by Martha Stewart company. The final issue was Jan/Feb 2008 and the blog Bluelines {http://blogs1.marthastewart.com/blueprint/} managed to survive until July 2008. According to the Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia press release, Blueprint was basically shut down to focus more on the Weddings magazine. "By publishing Blueprint in a special interest format, we can provide newlyweds with useful ideas and inspiration for their homes; and advertisers with a targeted platform to reach this highly desirable consumer." Hmmm...last time I checked Weddings were more special interest as most people tend to get married only one time, while it is possible that over your lifetime you may end up decorating multiple homes. Think about it.

It's official!

I've officially broken down and gotten a blog! This is mostly due to the fact that I have so much random down time at work. I find myself spending countless hours gazing at so many fun decorating ideas and delicious meals online without a place to gather all my favorites. So here it is. . .my new blog! Enjoy!
